Inconel 601 plate is a nickel-chromium-aluminum alloy engineered to deliver exceptional resistance to high-temperature oxidation, carburization, and thermal fatigue in aggressive industrial environments. Composed of 58–63% nickel, 21–25% chromium, and 1.0–1.7% aluminum, this alloy forms a protective alumina (Al₂O₃) layer at temperatures up to 1,250°C (2,282°F), ensuring long-term durability in oxidizing, reducing, and inert atmospheres. Its low carbon content (≤0.10%) minimizes carbide precipitation, while the balanced iron content enhances mechanical strength and creep resistance, making it ideal for applications such as heat treatment furnaces, gas turbine combustors, and chemical processing reactors.
Certified to ASTM B168 and ASME SB-168 standards, Inconel 601 plate achieves a tensile strength of ≥550 MPa and elongation ≥30%, outperforming conventional stainless steels in cyclic thermal operations. With a thermal expansion coefficient of 14.2×10⁻⁶/°C and thermal conductivity of 11.7 W/m·K, it minimizes residual stress in high-heat environments, ensuring structural integrity in aerospace, energy, and petrochemical industries.

Heat Treatment: Radiant tubes, muffles, and furnace components in carburizing atmospheres.
Aerospace: Combustion chamber liners, afterburner parts, and turbine seals.
Chemical Processing: Reactors and heat exchangers handling sulfuric acid and chlorides.
Power Generation: Gas turbine combustors, boiler baffles, and flue gas ducting.
Petrochemical: Ethylene cracker tubes and sulfur recovery unit (SRU) components.
Q1: How does Inconel 601 compare to Inconel 600 in high-temperature performance?
A: Inconel 601 offers superior oxidation resistance above 1,000°C due to its aluminum content, which forms a stable alumina layer, unlike Inconel 600’s chromium oxide.
Q2: Can Inconel 601 plates withstand cyclic thermal stress in furnaces?
A: Yes. Its low thermal expansion coefficient and high creep strength ensure durability in cyclic operations up to 1,200°C.
Q3: Is Inconel 601 compliant with NACE standards for sour gas environments?
A: While optimized for oxidation resistance, it meets NACE MR0175 for moderate H₂S exposure when base materials are compliant.
