Inconel 601 wire is a nickel-chromium-iron alloy engineered for applications requiring exceptional resistance to high-temperature oxidation, carburization, and thermal fatigue. With a composition of 58–63% nickel, 21–25% chromium, and 1.0–1.7% aluminum, this alloy forms a protective oxide layer that withstands temperatures up to 1,250°C (2,282°F) in oxidizing, reducing, and inert atmospheres. Its controlled iron content (balance) and low carbon (≤0.10%) minimize carbide precipitation and intergranular attack, ensuring long-term performance in aggressive environments such as sulfur-containing flue gases, molten salts, and chlorinated hydrocarbons.
Certified to ASTM B166, AMS 5715, and DIN 17752 standards, Inconel 601 wire delivers tensile strength ≥550 MPa and elongation ≥30%, making it ideal for gas turbine combustors, heat treatment furnace components, and chemical processing reactors. The alloy’s high electrical resistivity (112 µΩ·cm) and low thermal expansion coefficient (14.2×10⁻⁶/°C) ensure dimensional stability in cyclic thermal operations, outperforming conventional stainless steels in high-heat and corrosive settings.

Aerospace: Combustion chamber liners, afterburner components, and turbine seals.
Heat Treatment: Radiant tubes, muffles, and furnace rollers in carburizing atmospheres.
Chemical Processing: Reactors and heat exchangers handling sulfuric acid and chlorides.
Power Generation: Gas turbine combustors, boiler baffles, and flue gas ducting.
Petrochemical: Ethylene cracker tubes and sulfur recovery unit (SRU) components.
Q1: Can Inconel 601 wire withstand cyclic oxidation at 1,200°C?
A: Yes. Its aluminum-chromium oxide layer provides exceptional resistance to spalling and scale formation during thermal cycling.
Q2: Is post-weld heat treatment required for Inconel 601 welds?
A: Generally not. However, stress relief annealing (870–980°C) is recommended for thick-section welds in high-pressure systems.
Q3: Does Inconel 601 comply with NACE MR0175 for sour gas environments?
A: While optimized for high-temperature oxidation, it meets NACE standards for moderate H₂S exposure when base materials are compliant.
