1. Product Overview

Nomay Pure PTFE Film Tape, also called skived PTFE adhesive tape or extruded PTFE tape according to the selected backing, combines a fiberglass-free PTFE film with single-sided silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive.

The exposed film provides a non-stick, low-friction working face for compatible rollers, heat-sealing surfaces, guide rails and industrial tooling. The adhesive face attaches the tape to the equipment.

“Pure film” distinguishes the backing from PTFE-coated woven fabric. It does not mean the complete tape contains only PTFE, because the product includes a separate adhesive layer.

This is an adhesive industrial tape, not non-adhesive PTFE plumbing thread-seal tape. Skived and extruded versions are separate film options within the product family.

2. Product Construction

The installed construction consists of:
- Working surface and backing: PTFE film without woven fiberglass reinforcement.
- Adhesive layer: Silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive on one face.

Film options include skived and extruded constructions. Specify the required version when ordering instead of treating the two names as interchangeable model descriptions.

The exposed PTFE face serves as the release or sliding surface. The silicone adhesive face bonds to the mounting substrate.

Self-wound rolls suit direct roll handling. A release-liner-backed format can be specified for converting or part handling, according to the selected configuration.

Remove any release liner before installation. Tape thickness and liner thickness must be stated separately.

3. Backing & Adhesive System

Skived PTFE film:
This film is cut from a formed PTFE billet. It can be considered where flexibility and conformability are important, including suitable curved surfaces and roller wrapping.

Extruded PTFE film:
This is a different film-production route. Extruded versions can be considered where unwinding behavior and flat placement are important.

Compare actual grades at the required thickness. The manufacturing route alone does not guarantee a particular flatness, elongation or service life.

Silicone adhesive:
The pressure-sensitive adhesive secures the film to suitable equipment surfaces. Adhesion depends on substrate material, surface condition, installation pressure, temperature and service duration.

The PTFE working face and adhesive perform different functions. Non-stick release at the exposed face does not imply residue-free adhesive removal after service.

Include silicone-transfer restrictions if the process involves subsequent painting, coating, printing or structural bonding.

4. Available Specifications

Specify the following for the selected model:
- Film type: Skived PTFE film or extruded PTFE film.
- Backing: PTFE film without woven fiberglass reinforcement.
- Adhesive: Silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive.
- Adhesive side: Single-sided.
- Thickness: Required film or finished-tape thickness, with tolerance.
- Width: Required finished width and tolerance.
- Roll length: Required finished length.
- Color and appearance: Selected according to the film grade.
- Supply format: Roll, liner-backed roll, sheet, strip or die-cut part.

Finished tape thickness includes the film and adhesive. Any release liner is separate unless explicitly included in a laminate measurement.

The enterprise ranges for brown PTFE tape and the separately specified milky white product must not be automatically applied to every skived or extruded version.

Final numerical dimensions and performance values are recorded in the selected model specification. For converted parts, provide a dimensioned drawing, tolerances and liner requirements.

If a specific raw-material purity or virgin-resin requirement applies, state it separately from the general “pure film” product name.

5. Key Features & Buyer Benefits

- Non-stick working face: Helps compatible film, adhesive or process material release from the covered surface.
- Low-friction PTFE face: Can reduce sliding resistance on suitable rollers and guides.
- Fiberglass-free backing: Avoids woven glass-cloth texture where a film contact surface is preferred.
- Choice of film construction: Allows handling and installation requirements to guide selection.
- Single-sided adhesive: Provides attachment to properly prepared equipment surfaces.
- Custom dimensions and converted formats: Help match coverage, clearance and replacement-part requirements.

Fiberglass-free does not establish zero particle shedding or cleanroom suitability. Surface finish, wear life and removal behavior depend on the selected construction and operating conditions.

6. Application Procedure

Identify the mounting material, equipment geometry and operating conditions before choosing the film version and thickness.

Stop and isolate the equipment where required and allow the mounting surface to cool. Remove old tape, loose residue, oil, dust and incompatible release agents. Clean and dry the surface using a compatible method.

Check the adhesive face and remove any liner. Apply even pressure while avoiding wrinkles, trapped air and excessive stretching.

For roller wrapping, define winding direction, seam placement and overlap or butt-joint arrangement according to the roller and process. Excessive tension can change dimensions or contribute to edge lifting.

For heat-sealing equipment, confirm that full-face adhesive coverage is suitable. Use a separately specified zone tape where the heating path must remain free of adhesive.

Confirm installation temperature and conditioning requirements for the selected adhesive. Trial the tape using the actual contact material, temperature, pressure, dwell time and cooling cycle.

Inspect for lifting, wear-through, damage and contamination. Store unused material protected from heat, sunlight and contamination, following the supplied storage and shelf-life instructions.

7. Application Industries

Relevant industries include:
- Packaging and heat-sealing machinery.
- Web handling and film converting.
- Printing and coating equipment.
- Industrial tooling and machinery maintenance.
- Precision tape converting.

Electrical applications require a suitable model and dielectric data for the complete assembly. A general PTFE material description is not an electrical-insulation rating.

Food-contact requirements should be directed to the separately specified FDA-compliant white PTFE construction. ESD requirements should be directed to the appropriate electrical-performance version.

8. Application Scenarios / Problems Solved

Material sticking to a roller:
The PTFE face can provide a release surface for compatible web materials. Confirm tracking, seam position and release under the operating cycle.

Packaging film sticking to a sealing jaw:
A PTFE cover can help the film release after sealing. Validate seal quality and heat response with the selected thickness.

Excessive drag on a guide:
The low-friction face can reduce sliding resistance where the contact material and equipment geometry are suitable.

Woven texture affecting a contact surface:
The film backing avoids woven fiberglass texture. Select the actual film finish required rather than assuming every film has the same smoothness.

Resin sticking to tooling:
The tape can provide a replaceable release interface for compatible resin systems. Evaluate seams, surface impressions and downstream coating or bonding requirements.

Small parts difficult to handle:
A confirmed liner-backed format can support cutting, storage and placement of converted parts.

9. Performance & Operating Conditions

Temperature:
Use the selected film-and-adhesive model's continuous temperature, peak temperature and exposure-time limits. General PTFE heat resistance does not establish the complete tape rating.

The existing webpage's -70°C lower limit and 300°C-for-30-minutes statement are not carried forward as confirmed specifications. Temperature requirements must correspond to the supplied construction.

Peel performance:
State the selected model's peel value with specimen width, peel angle, test speed, substrate and conditioning. Do not apply another PTFE construction's value without a model match.

Friction:
The PTFE face provides low-friction behavior, but a numerical coefficient requires the opposing material, load, speed, surface condition and test method. No universal 0.05–0.10 coefficient is assigned.

Chemical compatibility:
Assess the film, adhesive and exposed edges against the actual chemical, concentration, temperature and contact time.

Electrical behavior:
A dielectric rating requires complete-tape data and the intended assembly conditions. The standard construction is not automatically antistatic or conductive.

Mechanical conditions:
Evaluate wear, stretching, seam movement and edge lifting under representative operation. A thicker film does not automatically guarantee longer service life.

10. Comparison & Selection Guide

Skived versus extruded film:
Consider skived film where conformability is important. Consider extruded film where flat placement and unwinding behavior are priorities. Compare the actual grades and thicknesses before selecting.

Film versus PTFE-coated fiberglass:
Choose film when woven texture is undesirable. Choose a reinforced construction when its dimensional and mechanical characteristics suit the application. Neither category is universally superior.

Standard pure-film tape versus milky white tape:
The general pure-film category includes different models. A separately specified milky white version has its own parameters and should be ordered by its matching specification.

Standard tape versus FDA food-contact or ESD versions:
Select the version corresponding to the required function. Do not infer food-contact or electrical properties from color or the PTFE name alone.

Self-wound versus liner-backed:
Choose the roll format according to installation, converting and handling requirements.

Thickness selection:
Balance flexibility, clearance, heat response and mechanical exposure. Compare film thickness with film thickness or finished tape thickness with finished tape thickness.

11. Technical Notes + FAQ
