1. Product Overview

Nomay Brown PTFE Tape with Release Liner, also called liner-backed PTFE tape or PTFE glass cloth tape, combines PTFE-coated woven fiberglass cloth with single-sided silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive and yellow release paper.

The brown PTFE working face provides non-stick release and low-friction contact. The fiberglass backing reinforces the material, while the removable paper protects the adhesive during storage, handling and converting.

This version is intended for liner-backed rolls, sheets and dimensioned parts used on compatible heat sealers, guide surfaces and equipment covers.

Brown identifies the tape body. Yellow identifies the separate release paper. Remove the paper before bonding; it is not part of the installed working structure.

2. Product Construction

The construction consists of:
- Working surface: Brown PTFE coating.
- Reinforcing backing: Woven fiberglass cloth.
- Adhesive layer: Silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive on one face.
- Protective liner: Removable yellow release paper.

The PTFE coating and fiberglass cloth form the reinforced backing. The adhesive bonds that backing to the mounting surface.

The paper requires a release treatment compatible with silicone adhesive. Its color does not define release force, thickness or converting performance.

Distinguish three thickness measurements: coated backing, finished adhesive tape and complete tape-plus-liner laminate. The order specification must identify which measurement applies to the quoted thickness.

Other liner materials or colors are separately specified supply options. Yellow release paper remains the defining liner for this version.

3. Backing & Adhesive System

PTFE-coated fiberglass:
The woven backing supports handling and dimensional control. The exposed PTFE coating supplies the release and sliding surface.

Fabric texture, flexibility and wear behavior depend on the cloth and coating construction. This reinforced tape should not be assumed to have the same surface finish as unsupported PTFE film.

Silicone adhesive:
The pressure-sensitive adhesive attaches the tape to suitable equipment surfaces. Adhesion depends on the substrate, cleanliness, application pressure, temperature and service duration.

Yellow release paper:
The paper covers the adhesive until use and supports appropriate converting operations. Its release behavior must match cutting, waste removal, storage and application requirements.

The liner does not increase the installed tape's operating-temperature capability or guarantee repositionability after adhesive contact.

4. Available Specifications

Nomay's enterprise specifications for the brown PTFE and silicone adhesive family are:
- Thickness: 0.1–0.35 mm.
- Width: 0.1–1250 mm.
- Roll length: 10–500 m.
- Tape body color: Brown.
- Adhesive: Silicone adhesive.
- Master roll length: 500 m.

For this product:
- Adhesive side: Single-sided.
- Protective liner: Yellow release paper.
- Supply formats: Liner-backed rolls, sheets, strips and die-cut parts.

Thickness measurement basis: The enterprise range above does not specify whether the value represents the coated backing, finished adhesive tape or tape-plus-liner laminate. Identify the applicable basis and tolerance in the model specification before ordering.

Record liner thickness separately where it affects cutting, feeding or inspection. Do not add or subtract liner thickness from the enterprise range without establishing its measurement basis.

Finished availability depends on the combination of thickness, width and liner arrangement. A 500 m master roll does not establish availability of every converted combination at that length.

For converted parts, provide dimensions, tolerances, cut-depth requirements, liner retention and part presentation.

5. Key Features & Buyer Benefits

- Protected adhesive: Yellow release paper helps prevent accidental contact and contamination before installation.
- Supported converting: A suitable liner can support cutting and retain finished parts for handling.
- Non-stick PTFE face: Helps compatible packaging film and process materials release from the contact surface.
- Low-friction working surface: Can reduce sliding resistance on suitable guides and covers.
- Woven reinforcement: Supports handling and dimensional control.
- Defined replacement shapes: Pre-cut pieces help provide repeatable coverage during maintenance.
- Separate tape and liner identification: Brown tape and yellow paper are clearly distinguished during handling.

Cutting accuracy, waste removal and service life depend on the material configuration and process settings. Liner protection before use does not guarantee residue-free removal after service.

6. Application Procedure

Before converting, establish the thickness measurement basis, liner specification, part dimensions and required cut depth.

For kiss cutting, set the process to cut the intended tape layers while retaining sufficient liner integrity. Trial blade condition, pressure, feed tension and waste removal using the actual supplied material.

Before installation, stop and isolate the equipment where required and allow the mounting surface to cool. Remove old tape and residue, then clean and dry the surface using a compatible method.

Check the part orientation and dimensions. Where useful, partially remove the liner, attach the exposed adhesive area and progressively remove the remaining paper while applying even pressure.

Avoid touching the adhesive with contaminated tools or fingers. Do not stretch the tape or trap air beneath it. Remove all liner material before service.

Follow the selected adhesive's installation-temperature and conditioning requirements. Trial the installed part under actual temperature, pressure, dwell time and contact conditions.

Store unused material with the liner in place, protected from heat, sunlight, moisture and contamination, following the supplied storage and shelf-life instructions.

7. Application Industries

Relevant industries include:
- Packaging and heat-sealing machinery.
- Plastic-film converting.
- Industrial tape converting and die cutting.
- Equipment-cover and guide-surface maintenance.
- Industrial tooling and replacement-part supply.

Specialized electronic hot-press applications depend on the fixture, temperature, pressure and surface requirements.

Food-contact and other special requirements must be matched to the appropriate construction. The FDA status of the separate white PTFE product is not transferred to this brown version.

8. Application Scenarios / Problems Solved

Adhesive exposed during converting:
The liner keeps the mounting face covered and supports appropriate cutting and handling operations.

Replacement pieces cut inconsistently:
Dimensioned pads or strips provide repeatable coverage for compatible sealing jaws and equipment surfaces.

Packaging film sticking to a sealing surface:
The installed PTFE face helps compatible film release. Validate seal quality and release using the actual process cycle.

Guide strips difficult to handle:
Liner-backed pieces can be organized before adhesive exposure. Accurate placement still depends on the part geometry and application method.

Stored parts sticking together:
The paper separates and protects adhesive faces until installation, supporting storage of replacement parts.

Poor kiss-cutting or waste removal:
Review liner strength, release behavior, cutting settings and part geometry together. Liner color alone does not resolve a cutting problem.

9. Performance & Operating Conditions

Temperature:
The enterprise range for the brown PTFE and silicone adhesive family is 260–300°C. It does not define continuous temperature, peak duration or service life for every model.

The operating specification concerns the installed tape after liner removal. Confirm continuous temperature, peak temperature and exposure time for the selected construction. Do not automatically treat 260°C as continuous service or 300°C as unrestricted operation.

The heater setting, tape contact temperature and adhesive-interface temperature may differ. Evaluate pressure, dwell time, cooling cycle and mechanical exposure together.

Peel strength:
The enterprise range is 0–1200 g, as supplied. Identify the model value, specimen width, peel angle, test speed, substrate and conditioning before using it as an acceptance criterion. Do not assume a per-width unit that has not been specified.

Liner release:
The force needed to separate paper from adhesive differs from tape peel strength against equipment. Specify liner release separately where converting or dispensing requires it.

Wear and cleaning:
Inspect the PTFE face and edges for damage, lifting and contamination. Chemicals entering cut edges may affect the adhesive.

Removal:
Residue depends on substrate, temperature, pressure and service duration. Evaluate the selected adhesive where clean removal is required.

10. Comparison & Selection Guide

Liner-backed versus self-wound brown PTFE tape:
Choose liner-backed material where adhesive protection or support during converting is useful. Choose self-wound material where direct roll application meets the installation requirements.

Yellow paper versus another liner:
Select according to release behavior, stiffness, thickness, cutting and handling requirements. Color is an identification feature, not a performance rating.

PTFE-coated fiberglass versus pure PTFE film:
Consider fiberglass reinforcement where a woven carrier suits the process. Consider film where woven texture is undesirable. Compare actual surface finish, flexibility and mechanical data.

Rolls versus die-cut parts:
Rolls suit variable lengths and continuous coverage. Converted parts suit repeated outlines, openings and controlled replacement dimensions.

Full-face adhesive versus zone tape:
This version has adhesive across the mounting face. Select zone tape when the heating path requires an adhesive-free center.

Thickness selection:
Balance flexibility, clearance, heat response and wear. Compare values on the same measurement basis and distinguish installed tape thickness from the full liner-backed laminate.

11. Technical Notes + FAQ

Technical notes:
Record the model, thickness measurement basis, dimensions, yellow-paper liner details, supply format and operating conditions. For converted parts, include tolerances and liner-retention requirements.
