1. Product Overview

Nomay Clear PET High Temperature Tape is a single-sided transparent polyester tape for protecting labels, barcodes, alignment marks and selected component surfaces during compatible industrial processes.

Common purchasing names include transparent polyester silicone tape, high temperature label protection tape and clear PET masking tape.

Silicone adhesive is the primary heat-process construction presented here. Acrylic adhesive versions are available for separately specified applications. The two adhesive systems require independent performance selection.

2. Product Construction

Backing: Transparent PET polyester film.
Adhesive: Silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive; acrylic adhesive options subject to model confirmation.
Adhesive side: Single-sided.
Appearance: Clear; clarity and haze depend on the selected construction.
Formats: Rolls, liner-backed rolls, strips and custom die-cut protection covers.

The transparent tape backing and removable release liner are different layers. Liner material, color and release force must be specified separately where they affect converting or placement.

3. Available Specifications

Thickness range: 0.015–0.2 mm.
Width range: 0.1–1250 mm.
Adhesive options: Silicone or acrylic, matched to the application.

Confirm whether the quoted thickness refers to backing film or finished adhesive tape. Finished thickness includes backing and adhesive, excluding any removable release liner.

Roll length, peel adhesion and temperature performance must be confirmed for the selected transparent construction. Do not apply the complete colored PET specification range to this product.

Peel adhesion must identify the force unit, specimen width, substrate, peel angle, test speed and dwell time. Available dimensions depend on the thickness, adhesive, liner and winding configuration.

Visibility During Protection
The clear construction allows suitable printed information and alignment marks to remain visible while covered.

Label and Barcode Protection
Selected constructions protect compatible printing from handling and specified process exposure. Readability must be checked with the actual label and scanner.

Transparent Masking
Operators can inspect positioning and covered features without immediately removing the tape.

Film Strength and Conformability
PET provides a thin, flexible protective layer with useful handling strength. Thickness and geometry determine conformity and resistance to tearing.

Controlled Removal
Selected grades support removal after validated exposure, helping reduce cleanup and surface damage.

Custom Converting
Slit rolls and die-cut covers support repeated label sizes, inspection points and component shapes.

5. Transparency and Readability

Transparent appearance does not establish optical-grade clarity or universal barcode readability.

Film haze, adhesive texture, bubbles, gloss and surface reflection can affect viewing and scanning. Define transmission or haze limits where these influence selection.

Test the actual barcode, print contrast, scanner, lighting and viewing angle before and after processing. Heating, chemical exposure and adhesive changes can affect the result.

A protective overlaminate does not make an ordinary label, ink or label adhesive heat-resistant. The complete label-and-tape assembly must withstand the process.

6. Adhesive and Temperature Selection

Silicone grades may suit heat-process masking, label protection and selected splicing applications.

As a same-structure public reference, transparent PET silicone tapes include grades with temperature capability up to approximately 204°C. This is not a confirmed rating for every Nomay construction, and permitted exposure time must be established for the selected model.

Acrylic versions require separate temperature, adhesion and removal evaluation. The silicone reference must not be assigned to acrylic adhesive.

Provide actual part temperature, exposure duration, heating cycles and removal conditions. Continuous service, 220°C exposure and extended baking require specific model confirmation.

Industrial Identification
Protect suitable labels, barcodes, batch numbers and nameplates during handling and compatible manufacturing processes.

PCB and Electronics
Provide localized transparent masking or protection during approved coating or thermal operations. Confirm electrical, residue and silicone-transfer requirements.

Automotive and Metal Components
Protect identification marks or selected inspection areas during compatible processing.

Inspection Windows
Selected constructions may provide temporary surface protection where visibility is required. Check distortion, haze and residue; the tape is not a replacement for a protective window or optical element.

Semiconductor and Display Facilities
Use requires defined particle, outgassing, ionic-contamination and residue criteria for the selected process.

Film and Liner Splicing
Selected silicone grades may be evaluated for splicing compatible silicone-coated films or liners. Confirm web tension, splice geometry, temperature and downstream compatibility.

8. Temporary and Permanent Protection

For temporary use, evaluate removal after the full heat and chemical cycle, including the risk of lifting ink or damaging label surfaces.

For material remaining in the assembly, evaluate aging, edge lift, creep, clarity and adhesion over the intended service conditions.

A clear tape suitable for temporary masking is not automatically suitable for permanent optical lamination.

Where silicone transfer is prohibited, request a separately verified construction. Acrylic adhesive alone does not prove that the liner and finished converted product meet a silicone-control limit.

9. Application Procedure

Confirm the substrate, printing system and complete process.

Clean and dry the application area using a method that will not damage the label, ink or component.

Apply with uniform pressure while avoiding bubbles, wrinkles and excessive stretching.

Check visual readability or scanning before processing.

Run a sample through the complete production cycle. Inspect clarity, edge lifting, shrinkage, printing changes and adhesive transfer.

For temporary covers, remove at the validated temperature, angle and speed, then inspect the protected surface.

10. Chemical and Special Performance

Chemical resistance depends on the adhesive, film and complete exposure conditions. Specify the chemical, concentration, temperature and contact duration.

Surface protection does not automatically establish scratch-proof performance, UV resistance or outdoor durability.

Low-haze, low-static and low-outgassing versions may be requested, subject to specification and model confirmation. These properties require separate acceptance criteria.

Electrical-insulation requirements must be evaluated on the finished construction. Transparency does not establish a voltage rating.

11. Comparison, Handling and Storage

Clear and Colored PET Tape
Choose clear tape when viewing underlying information is important. Choose colored tape when visible mask identification is the priority.

Silicone and Acrylic Adhesive
Select according to process temperature, substrate, removal behavior and contamination requirements.

Rolls and Die-Cut Covers
Rolls suit variable-length protection. Die-cut parts support repeated dimensions and controlled placement.

Store material in original packaging in a clean, dry environment. Follow the confirmed storage conditions and shelf life, and protect clear surfaces and exposed adhesive from contamination.
