1.Product Introduction
Lithium Ore Grinding Ball Mill is a specialized industrial equipment designed for pulverizing lithium ores. By utilizing the impact and attrition between steel balls and ore within a rotating drum, it grinds lithium-bearing minerals, such as spodumene, to the optimal particle size. This process facilitates the high-efficiency execution of subsequent mineral dressing and lithium extraction operations.
2.Application
In lithium ores, lithium is primarily present as spodumene, often with a fine disseminated grain size that requires thorough liberation for effective recovery. The ball mill plays a decisive role in this process:
Maximizing Mineral Liberation: Grinding the ore to the target fineness (e.g., 80% passing 0.074mm / 200 mesh) to ensure complete separation of lithium minerals from the gangue.
Enhancing Flotation Efficiency: Fine grinding increases the surface activity of the minerals, allowing for better adsorption of collectors and significantly boosting flotation recovery rates.
Optimizing Energy Consumption: Precise control of grinding fineness prevents over-grinding, thereby reducing energy waste and equipment wear.
In actual production lines, the ball mill is typically integrated with crushers, classifiers, and flotation cells to form a complete mineral processing system, following the mainstream process route: "Three-stage Crushing + Closed-circuit Grinding + Flotation Extraction."
3.Working Principle
Lithium ore ball mills typically utilize a wet grinding method. During operation, the motor drives the drum to rotate via a reduction gear system. Inside the drum, steel balls and ore are lifted to a specific height by the combined action of centrifugal force and friction before falling freely to impact the material. Simultaneously, the sliding and rolling motions between the balls create a grinding effect, progressively pulverizing the ore into fine powder.
The ground material is discharged from the outlet as pulp/slurry and enters a spiral classifier or hydrocyclone for classification:
Qualified fine pulp proceeds to the flotation or chemical lithium extraction process.
Coarse particles are returned to the ball mill via a combined feeder for re-grinding, forming a closed-circuit circulation system.
This equipment is designed for 24/7 continuous operation, making it ideal for large-scale lithium ore processing lines.
