Limestone/Lime-Gypsum Wet Flue Gas Desulfurization (WFGD)
The limestone/lime-gypsum wet flue gas desulfurization process utilizes cost-effective and readily available limestone as the desulfurization absorbent. This proven technology effectively removes sulfur dioxide and other pollutants from industrial flue gases.
Process Overview
Limestone is crushed, ground into powder, and mixed with water to form an absorption slurry
When lime is used as the absorbent, lime powder is digested and mixed with water
In the absorption tower, the slurry contacts and mixes with flue gas
Sulfur dioxide reacts with calcium carbonate and air, producing gypsum as the final product
Simultaneously removes other pollutants including dust, HCl, and HF
Desulfurized flue gas passes through a demister and heat exchanger before discharge
Gypsum slurry is recovered through dewatering equipment
