Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) flue gas dry desulfurization technology was developed in the mid-1980s as an innovative dry desulfurization solution specially designed for coal-fired power plants.
Based on circulating fluidized bed working principles, this technology realizes intensive heat and mass transfer between the sorbent and sulfur dioxide (SO₂) via internal material circulation inside the reactor and high-ratio external circulation. It enables vigorous mass transfer within the absorbent. Solid materials can remain inside the fluidized bed for 30 to 60 minutes, which drastically elevates absorbent utilization efficiency and desulfurization efficiency.
Even under a relatively low calcium-sulfur (Ca/S) molar ratio, the system delivers a desulfurization efficiency up to 90%, comparable to the limestone wet desulfurization process.
