3. Testing Principle
The test system operates by applying a higher-than-rated frequency to the windings to reduce overall inductive reactance. This allows the generation of the required test voltage across the winding insulation using a manageable input current level. The standard test profile applies a voltage equal to twice the rated voltage plus 1 kV, at a frequency typically ranging from 100 Hz to 400 Hz.
