DIN7505A is the classic German standard specification for countersunk Pozidrive chipboard screws, specially engineered for medium density fiberboard (MDF), particleboard, chipboard, plywood and solid wood assembly. It adopts full fine thread design, sharp self-tapping tip and standard 90° countersunk head (single or double countersunk optional). Unlike ordinary wood screws, its dense deep threads form firm locking mechanism inside loose man-made boards to prevent loosening, splitting or pull-out failure, widely recognized as standard furniture fasteners across Europe.
What's the difference between single countersunk and double countersunk DIN7505A screws?
Two head designs serve different finishing demands:
Single countersunk head: Basic flat 90° head, cost-effective, fits general hidden fastening inside furniture frames.
Double countersunk head: Extra chamfer under the head with small anti-split nibs. It sinks completely flat into board surface without scratching veneer or paint, avoids board cracking during tightening, ideal for visible surface decoration panels, cabinet doors and decorative woodwork.
What drive type does DIN7505A adopt? Why not Phillips cross recess?
Standard DIN7505A specifies Pozidrive (PZ) cross recess, not ordinary Phillips drive. The Pozidrive structure provides larger torque contact area, effectively prevents screwdriver bit slipping and head stripping under high-speed electric screwdriver installation, which greatly reduces defective rate in mass furniture production lines. Custom Torx star recess is also available for anti-theft furniture upon request.
