A three-phase decanter centrifuge separates the feed into three main phases:

The actual separation result depends on feed composition, oil content, water content, solids content, temperature, viscosity, and pretreatment condition.

The palm oil process stream enters the rotating bowl through the feed pipe.

Under centrifugal force, the phases separate according to density difference.

• Heavier solid particles, fiber, sludge, and sand move outward and form a sediment layer on the bowl wall.
• The water phase forms the heavier liquid layer.
• The oil phase stays closer to the center as the light liquid phase.

The screw conveyor rotates at a controlled differential speed and continuously pushes separated solids toward the discharge end.

At the same time, the oil phase and water phase are discharged separately through different liquid outlets.
