Tripterygium wilfordii extract, also known as southern celastrine, is a pentacyclic triterpenoid natural bioactive product extracted from the root bark of *Tripterygium wilfordii*, a plant in the Celastraceae family. Its molecular formula is C29H38O4, and its CAS number is 34157-83-0. It appears as red crystals with a purity generally ≥98%. This substance induces apoptosis in cancer cells by inhibiting proteasome activity and possesses anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, lipid metabolism-regulating, and anti-rheumatoid effects.
Potential Immunosuppression and Anti-inflammatory Effects: Tripterygium wilfordii directly inhibits the activation and proliferation of T and B lymphocytes, and reduces the expression of various inflammatory factors such as interleukin-2 and tumor necrosis factor-α.
