Product Description
Solar tempered glass is a safety-enhanced, optically optimized glass specifically engineered for photovoltaic (PV) modules. It is produced via a thermal tempering process—heating float glass to ~600-700°C and then rapidly quenching it—creating high surface compressive stress and internal tensile stress. This treatment boosts its mechanical strength by 3-5 times compared to ordinary glass, making it highly resistant to impact, bending, and thermal shock.
As the front cover of PV panels, it serves two core roles:
1. Optical performance: Maximizes sunlight transmittance (up to ≥93% with anti-reflective coating) to improve solar cell energy conversion efficiency.
2. Protection & safety: Shields internal solar cells from harsh outdoor conditions (UV radiation, extreme temperatures, humidity, sandstorms) and breaks into small, blunt-edged fragments if shattered, ensuring operational safety.Widely compliant with international standards (EN 12150, IEC 61215), it’s a foundational material for all PV
