Why choose Carbon Fiber EOAT over Aluminum for large body-side panels?
Carbon fiber is up to 50% lighter and significantly stiffer. For a large part like a full-body side, an aluminum tool might "bounce" at the end of a high-speed move. Carbon fiber's natural damping properties eliminate this vibration, allowing the robot to place the part in the die immediately without waiting for the tool to settle.
Can one EOAT handle different material types (Steel vs. Aluminum)?
Yes, provided it uses Hybrid Gripping. While vacuum is universal, we often add switchable Permanent Magnets to the tool. For steel parts, the magnets provide secondary security; for aluminum, the vacuum cups handle the load, and the magnets remain inactive.
