Manufactured by Hitachi, this compressor pump is one of the key power units of the Land Rover Discovery 3 electronic air suspension system. Its primary function is to supply compressed air to the four-wheel independent air suspension system, maintaining ride height, adjusting suspension stiffness, and working with the Terrain Response system to ensure off-road capability, comfort, and handling stability across various driving conditions.
The Discovery 3 used two compressor suppliers between 2004–2009: AMK and Hitachi, with Hitachi-type compressors primarily fitted to certain model years and specific market vehicles.
