In heavy machinery manufacturing, pressure vessels, and shipbuilding, the welding quality of thick plates directly determines product lifespan and safety. Submerged arc welding (SAW), with its advantages of deep penetration, high efficiency, and aesthetically pleasing weld formation, has become the preferred process for welding medium and thick plates.
HJ4050 Shipbuilding Welding Manipulator serves as the core equipment supporting the welding head and enabling precise movement, making it essential for maximizing the advantages of the submerged arc welding process.
Applications
Submerged arc welding (SAW) manipulators are typically used in conjunction with welding roller frames, welding positioners, and other equipment to form a complete automated welding production line.
Pressure Vessel Manufacturing
The longitudinal and circumferential seam welding of pressure vessel cylinders is the most mature application area for SAW manipulators. With adjustable roller frames, manipulators can weld vessel cylinders with diameters ranging from hundreds of millimeters to several meters. For special-shaped workpieces such as ball valves and hollow rollers, manipulators equipped with rotating columns can achieve multi-angle coverage.
Pipeline and Wind Power Engineering
In the welding of large-diameter, thick-walled components such as wind turbine towers, offshore platforms, and large pipelines, SAW manipulators demonstrate irreplaceable advantages. These workpieces have bevel depths of up to 150 millimeters, making it difficult to guarantee consistent quality using traditional manual welding. Manipulators, combined with adaptive welding technology, can automatically compensate for bevel deviations, completing fully automated welding from the root to the cap.
Heavy Machinery and Steel Structures
Large cylindrical equipment such as ball mills and rotary kilns (3-6 meters in diameter, 10-20 meters in length) are welded from multiple sections, requiring a welding operating frame in conjunction with a rotating jig for circumferential welding. This also applies to long, straight welds in thick plate structures such as bridge steel structures and box girder columns.
Simultaneous Processing of Inner and Outer Walls
Advanced submerged arc welding manipulators can rotate the column, allowing the welding head to move between the outer and inner processing tables, enabling continuous welding of the same workpiece's inner and outer walls without repeated lifting and turning.
