The WANSHIDA Q43L-8000 hydraulic gantry shear is developed for recycling operations where processing continuity, large-batch feeding and finished scrap consistency are more important than handling individual pieces manually. Its 8000 × 1950 × 900 mm loading chamber allows long steel profiles, pipes, plates and mixed structural scrap to be loaded directly by a mechanical grab.
Powered by an approximately 270 kW hydraulic system, the machine generates a maximum shearing force of 8000 kN. The 2000 mm blade processes compressed scrap at approximately 2–3 cutting cycles per minute. This combination makes the Q43L-8000 suitable for large scrap yards, steel mills and demolition recycling facilities that regularly handle bulky ferrous metal waste.
The main value of this 800-ton gantry shear is not simply its cutting force. It creates a more organized material flow from unloading and temporary storage to cutting, transportation and furnace charging. By turning irregular scrap into shorter and more manageable pieces, the machine can help reduce repeated handling and improve the overall efficiency of the recycling yard.
Large recycling facilities often receive scrap in different lengths, shapes and densities. Steel beams, pipes, plates and demolition materials cannot always be transported or charged into furnaces efficiently in their original condition.
Without suitable heavy-duty cutting equipment, operators may experience:
These problems affect more than the cutting stage. They can slow down the entire material-handling process within the recycling facility.
The Q43L-8000 combines scrap receiving, hydraulic compression, forward feeding and gantry shearing in a coordinated system. Large batches of scrap can be loaded into the chamber by a mechanical grab. The material is then compressed and stabilized before being moved toward the cutting blade.
Compression is particularly important when processing mixed scrap. It reduces gaps between irregular pieces, controls loose material and presents a more compact bundle to the blade. The 8000 kN hydraulic force then cuts the material into shorter sections suitable for storage, transportation or furnace charging.
The feeding distance can be adjusted according to the preferred finished length. This allows recycling companies to produce scrap that better matches the requirements of steel mills and downstream buyers.

Production performance depends on scrap density, material dimensions, steel grade, feeding efficiency and required cutting length.
The 8-meter loading chamber accepts long and irregular scrap in batches. Operators do not need to position and cut every piece separately, helping create a more continuous workflow.
Oversized scrap can be loaded, compressed and cut in one processing area. This reduces repeated handling between storage, cutting and loading zones.
Cut material is easier to stack and organize than long, tangled scrap. Recycling yards can use their available storage area more efficiently and maintain clearer material categories.
Shorter and more uniform scrap pieces can be loaded more densely into trucks or containers. Better load utilization may reduce the transportation cost per ton.
Steel mills require scrap that can be safely and efficiently loaded into furnaces. The Q43L-8000 prepares oversized material into manageable sections, helping simplify downstream charging operations.
The 25 MPa hydraulic system supplies stable pressure for compression, feeding and cutting. Its heavy-duty design is suitable for repeated industrial operation.
The PLC system controls the sequence of material compression, feeding and shearing. This improves cycle consistency and reduces repetitive manual intervention.
The Q43L-8000 heavy-duty scrap shear can process various ferrous materials, including:
Maximum cutting capacity varies according to the material shape, thickness, grade and number of pieces being cut together. Representative material photos and dimensions should be evaluated before production.
The machine is suitable for:
Scrap is first loaded into the 8000 mm chamber using a mechanical grab. Hydraulic compression devices compact and stabilize the material inside the loading box.
The feeding mechanism moves the compressed bundle toward the cutting head. When the material reaches the preset position, the 2000 mm blade moves downward and applies up to 8000 kN of shearing force.
After each cut, the feeding system advances the remaining material. The PLC coordinates the repeated compression, feeding and cutting sequence until the batch has been processed.
Finished scrap falls into the discharge area and can be collected by a grab or transferred through an optional conveyor system.
The Q43L-8000 weighs approximately 92 tons and requires suitable installation planning. Buyers should consider the machine foundation, loading area, discharge space, hydraulic station location and safe movement range of the mechanical grab.
The available electrical supply must also support the approximately 270 kW installed power. Before manufacturing, the voltage, frequency, transformer capacity and cable requirements should be confirmed.
A suitable site layout should provide sufficient space for:
Foundation drawings and installation guidance can be provided after the machine configuration is confirmed.
The Q43L-8000 can be configured according to the customer’s material and operating conditions. Available options include:
WANSHIDA supplies operating instructions, foundation drawings, hydraulic diagrams and electrical documentation. Remote assistance is available for installation, commissioning, operator training and fault diagnosis.
Overseas engineer service can be arranged when required. Spare blades, seals and other maintenance parts are available for long-term operation. The standard warranty period is 12 months under normal operating conditions.
It combines an 800-ton shearing force, a 2000 mm blade and an 8-meter loading chamber. This configuration is intended for larger batches and heavier scrap-processing operations.
The machine performs approximately 2–3 cutting cycles per minute. Actual production depends on material conditions, feeding speed and the selected cutting length.
Yes. The hydraulic system compresses and stabilizes loose material before it reaches the blade, improving feeding and cutting consistency.
A mechanical grab is normally used to load scrap into the chamber. This method is suitable for continuous processing of bulky and irregular metal waste.
Yes. The feeding distance can be adjusted to produce different approximate cutting lengths according to transportation or furnace requirements.
The Q43L-8000 is mainly designed for ferrous scrap. Aluminum, copper or other non-ferrous materials should be technically evaluated before processing.
