Product Description

This customizable wear-resistant pipe lining uses alumina ceramics to protect steel pipes and fittings that convey abrasive powders, granules, or slurry. The ceramic lining forms the wear-resistant working surface, while the steel structure carries the mechanical load.

Customization is important because wear is rarely uniform throughout a pipeline. Straight sections are mainly affected by sliding abrasion, while elbows, inlets, reducers, and changes in bore may receive stronger particle impact or turbulence. The ceramic shape, thickness, and layout should therefore follow the actual wear pattern.

Where Does the Lining Need More Protection?

Premature wear often begins at a small number of critical positions:

• The outer arc of an elbow
• Pipe inlets where material enters at an angle
• Reducers and sudden changes in internal diameter
• Ceramic edges facing the material flow
• Joints with excessive gaps or uneven transitions
• Areas exposed to concentrated impact

A uniform ceramic thickness may suit general abrasion, but severe wear zones may require thicker ceramics, smaller tile sections, or a specially arranged lining pattern.

These values describe the ceramic material. The operating limit of the complete lined pipe also depends on the steel pipe, adhesive, connection design, temperature, pressure, vibration, and impact conditions.

A Good Ceramic Tile Can Still Fail If It Is Installed Poorly

Before lining, the internal steel surface must be cleaned and prepared to remove rust, oil, and loose material. Then arrange the alumina ceramics according to the direction of material flow and bond them with a suitable adhesive.

Installation should control ceramic gaps, tile alignment, end transitions, and exposed edges. If the adhesive is unsuitable for the operating temperature or an elevated ceramic edge faces the incoming material, local failure may begin before the ceramic surface is worn through.

Where This Lining Is Commonly Used

Wear-resistant pipe lining with alumina ceramics can be considered for conveying fly ash, pulverized coal, cement raw meal, mineral particles, and other abrasive bulk materials. Typical industries include thermal power, steel, cement, coal, mining, ports, smelting, and chemical processing.

For severe direct impact, continuous high temperature, strong vibration, or corrosive media, the complete lining structure should be evaluated separately rather than selected only by alumina content or ceramic hardness.
