CNC Aluminum Machined and Anodized Prototype. Customer was an Australia company offering professional service and engineered solutions for fluid systems. This prototype was made to test liquid pressure and fitting before low volume production. Since big dimensions, shape stability and milling tolerance were key points.
Electropolished Stainless Steel 316 Sheet Metal Parts. Electropolishing brought two benefits for metal parts, one was glossy appearance by minimizing surface stains or minor scratches, another was corrosion resistance by eliminating surface blemishes to prevent moisture leading to corrosion. It also improved surface adhesion to other coatings.
Reaction Injection Molding Large Parts. This was an Engine Casing that was originally manufactured by the sheet metal fabrication with lots of welding. To save cost, customer modified the design of this casing to be Reaction Injection Molded. The different wall thicknesses of 5/7/10/20 mm brought challenge to shrinkage control. |

One of the fast growing and wide applications of CNC machining today is Rapid Prototyping for its advantages of cheap and target materials, tight tolerance as well as usually cheap production cost, thus CNC milled prototypes deliver more reliable and economical feedback on mechanism and strength verification.
Reaction Injection Molding (RIM, also named Low-Pressure Injection Molding) is an ideal process to low volume manufacturing the large plastic parts quickly and economically. Firstly, the liquid bi-component polyurethanes are injected into a mixer at certain amount ratio and meanwhile mixed well by the mixer, then the mixture is injected into the tooling cavity quickly at room temperature and low pressure to form the parts.

Vacuum Casting (Polyurethane Casting) specializes in low volume production and making rubber parts that could not be CNC milled. Firstly, place a master model made by CNC or SLA into a box, then pour debubbled liquid silicone rubber into the box to fully cover master model, after that cure liquid silicone rubber by heating, finally split the cured silicone rubber and take out master model to get the silicone rubber mold.
