Safety Precautions

Ensure all electrical equipment is turned off and the vehicle is powered down before operation. The headlight integrates LED modules and electronic control units. Operating with power on may cause module damage or fault codes.

Professional technician operation recommended. Headlight replacement involves front bumper removal, lamp body positioning, and beam calibration. Lack of experience may cause uneven gaps or poor sealing.

Support the headlight assembly by hand when disconnecting connectors to prevent the lamp body from falling and getting damaged.

Removing the Old Headlight Assembly

Step 1: Remove Front Bumper Assembly

Replacement of the BYD Yuan Pro headlight assembly typically requires removing the front bumper assembly first to expose the headlight mounting bolts. Open the engine hood, remove the upper bumper retaining screws and the clips at both wheel arches, then carefully separate the front bumper from the vehicle. Note: Do not pull the front bumper with excessive force during removal to avoid damaging other components.

Step 2: Disconnect Headlight Wiring

Disconnect the headlight harness connector by pressing the locking tab and pulling out smoothly.

Step 3: Remove Headlight Mounting Bolts

Use a socket or appropriate tool to remove the headlight assembly mounting bolts. According to the official BYD repair manual, the headlight assembly is typically secured by 4 bolts with a specified torque of 7±1 N·m.

Step 4: Remove Old Headlight Assembly

After removing all mounting bolts, support the headlight assembly by hand, gently wiggle it to separate from the body, then remove it from the vehicle. Protect the headlight surface from scratches or damage.

Installing the New Headlight Assembly

Step 5: Install New Headlight and Pre-Tighten

Align the new headlight assembly with the body mounting positions, push it in and thread the mounting bolts. Tighten preliminarily without fully securing to allow gap adjustment between the headlight and body.

Step 6: Connect Wiring Harness

Connect the headlight assembly harness connector to the body harness, ensuring the locking tab engages fully.

Step 7: Adjust Gaps and Tighten Bolts

After confirming even gaps between the headlight and body and flush fitment with the bumper, tighten the mounting bolts in a diagonal sequence to the specified torque of 7±1 N·m.

Step 8: Reinstall Front Bumper

Align the front bumper with the body mounting positions, press the clips back into place, and tighten the retaining screws. Ensure all clips are fully engaged and the bumper fits tightly against the body.

Step 9: Function Test

Restore vehicle power and test the following functions in sequence: high/low beams, daytime running lights, turn signals, and headlight height adjustment (if equipped). Confirm all lighting functions work properly with no fault warnings.

Step 10: Beam Calibration (Recommended)

After installation, it is recommended to use a headlight tester or visit a professional repair shop for beam calibration to ensure the low beam angle meets regulations and avoids glare for oncoming vehicles.

Important Notes

Headlight mounting bolt torque is 7±1 N·m: Tighten strictly to specification. Excessive torque may damage the plastic mounting base; insufficient torque may cause headlight vibration.

Do not touch bulb glass with fingers during installation: If bulb replacement is involved, finger contact with the glass leaves oily marks, causing blurring and reduced service life.

Professional operation recommended: Headlight replacement involves bumper removal and beam calibration. If lacking professional experience, visit an authorized service center or professional repair shop.
