The BYD Song PLUS Engine & Battery Skid Plate is a underbody protection accessory developed specifically for this vehicle model. Covering two core components—the engine skid plate and the battery pack skid plate—it protects the motor, oil pan, and Blade Battery pack from road debris impacts and bottoming-out damage.

This product is designed using BYD Genuine Accessories OEM data and crafted from premium aluminum alloy, fitting the battery pack contour precisely. It fits Song PLUS DM-i, Champion Edition, and Honor Edition all series, with options for both 110km and 51km range versions.

Safety Precautions

A lift or pit is mandatory: The Song PLUS DM-i has a low chassis with the battery pack spanning nearly the entire underbody. Installation must be performed on a lift or over a pit—a jack alone is insufficient.

Never jack on the battery pack casing: Jack and lift contact points must be placed on the marked reinforced metal ridges. Never place them on the battery pack casing, plastic side skirts, or suspension arms.

Installation Sequence

Important: Multi-piece skid plates have a fixed installation sequence. Installation must follow this order, otherwise later plates may not fit.

First: Battery Plate → Second: Engine Plate → Third: Body Plate → Fourth: Fuel Tank Plate → Fifth: Wiring Plate

Installation Steps

Step 1: Lift Vehicle and Inspect Chassis

Drive the vehicle onto a lift or over a pit. After lifting, inspect the chassis for any impact marks. Confirm the original plastic battery guard is intact.

Step 2: Install Battery Skid Plate (First Piece)

The original plastic battery guard does NOT need removal. The aluminum plate mounts directly over it. First thread 2 screws at front and rear to hold the plate in place, then install the remaining screws. The battery plate requires 33 screws in total.

Key: Thread all screws first, do not tighten. Tighten uniformly after all screws are in place.

Step 3: Install Engine Skid Plate (Second Piece)

The original plastic engine guard can be retained on Song PLUS DM-i, with the metal plate mounted over it. Key points: Two clips at the very edges need to be removed, then secure with self-tapping screws. Some positions require threading the supplied extension pieces first to extend mounting points by about 2cm.

Step 4: Install Remaining Plates

Install the body plate, fuel tank plate, and wiring plate in sequence. Note the fuel tank plate uses trapezoidal screws—small-head and large-head positions differ, confirm orientation before installation. For the wiring plate, first remove two original clips and use their mounting holes.

Step 5: Add Washers and Tighten Uniformly

Important: Add a washer on each mounting screw between the metal plate and metal chassis to prevent rattling from metal-to-metal contact. After confirming all screws are threaded, tighten uniformly in a diagonal sequence. The battery pack area is aluminum—apply even force to avoid stripping or breaking screws.

Step 6: Inspection and Road Test

Lower the vehicle and check that plates are secure with no looseness or rattling. Start the vehicle and drive at low speed to confirm no abnormal vibration. Note: Confirm plates do not interfere with suspension travel or contact the exhaust or other components.

Important Notes

Screw length distinction: Screws from the original front engine plate position can be reused. Black screws are used for side mounting, and longer screws are needed for some positions.

OEM vs aftermarket battery plate: OEM plate fits precisely with accurate hole alignment; aftermarket plates may have misaligned holes with some screws unable to install.
