The BYD Song PLUS Combination Rear Lamp Assembly is a vehicle-level lighting accessory developed specifically for this model. Designed to OEM specifications, it fits Song PLUS DM-i, EV, and Champion Edition, Honor Edition, and Intelligent Driving Edition all series.

This product integrates the tail light, brake light, turn signal, and rear reflector into a single unit. Utilizing LED light source technology, it offers high brightness, low energy consumption, and long lifespan. Safety Precautions

Ensure the vehicle is turned off and powered down, and the parking brake is engaged before operation. It is recommended to disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent short circuits when handling wiring. The tail light bulbs or housing may be hot after prolonged use—be careful of burns during operation.

Removing the Old Tail Light Assembly

Step 1: Empty the Trunk and Remove Trim Panel

Empty the trunk and open the tailgate. Locate the trunk trim panel behind the tail light. Remove the plastic fastening clips and screws from the trim panel. Some panels may need to be gently pried out with a flathead screwdriver—apply appropriate force to avoid damaging the material. The left side panel does not need to be fully removed; just detach it enough to allow your hands and tools to reach the internal screws.

Step 2: Unscrew the Tail Light Mounting Screws

After removing the trim panel, the tail light mounting screws become visible. The Song PLUS tail light typically has three mounting screws—one is clearly visible, and the other two are located inside circular holes. Unscrew them one by one with a screwdriver or appropriate socket, and keep them safe to prevent loss.

Step 3: Separate the Tail Light and Disconnect Wiring

After all screws are removed, gently pry along the tail light edge with a plastic pry tool to separate it from the body. Press the connector clip and pull out to disconnect the wiring harness. If the connector is tight, a small screwdriver can be used to gently pry it—avoid pulling hard to prevent damaging the wiring. Grip both sides of the tail light and pull gently to remove the old assembly.

Installing the New Tail Light Assembly

Step 4: Connect Wiring and Install the New Tail Light

Connect the new tail light assembly‘s harness connector to the body harness, ensuring the locking tab engages fully. Align with the body side slider position and push the new tail light into place, making sure the power connector passes through the mounting hole. After confirming the tail light is properly seated against the body, tighten the three mounting screws.

Step 5: Reinstall the Trim Panel

Align the trunk trim panel with the clips and press back into place. Reinstall the plastic fastening clips and screws. Ensure all clips are fully engaged and the panel is not loose.

Step 6: Function Test

Restore vehicle power and test the following functions in sequence: brake light, turn signal, reverse light, and rear fog light. Check that the tail light is securely installed with no looseness, and confirm the wiring connection has no poor contact.

Important Notes

Removal difficulty note: The Song PLUS tail light removal space is relatively tight, and some screw positions are inconvenient to access. If the tail light cannot be removed after unscrewing, do not use brute force—it is recommended to contact a professional technician.

Protect the lens material: The tail light housing is made from ASA+PA organic glass, which is hard but still requires care during removal to avoid scratching or cracking.

Professional operation recommended: Tail light replacement involves electrical circuits and body disassembly. If you lack professional experience, it is recommended to contact a 4S store or professional technician to avoid damaging vehicle components due to improper operation.
