INTRODUCTION
Silicon carbide, chemical formula for SiC, is made of quartz sand, petroleum coke (or coal coke), wood chips (adding salt for green silicon carbide production) and other raw materials, then smelting in a resistance furnace at high temperature, and it can also be called electrolon sand or refractory sand. Silicon carbide is divided into two kinds: black silicon carbide and green silicon carbide, are hexagonal crystal, specific gravity is 3.20~3.25g/cm3, Mohs hardness of silicon carbide is 9.5.
PROPERTIES
Our green silicon carbide is made from a mixture of high-quality raw materials and a small amount of iron oxide. It has a higher purity than black silicon carbide and is more friable, which means it breaks down more easily under pressure, resulting in a sharper cutting edge. Green silicon carbide is ideal for grinding and cutting applications where a sharp and consistent abrasive material is required. It is also an excellent choice for lapping and polishing applications.
APPLICATION
· Oil and gas: SiC can be used in oil and gas drilling and production equipment due to its wear resistance and high-temperature stability.
· Automotive: SiC can be used in engine components, such as valve lifters and turbocharger rotors, due to its high temperature and wear resistance.
· Semiconductor inspection: SiC is used in scanning electron microscopy (SEM) systems as a specimen holder due to its low thermal expansion coefficient and thermal conductivity.
· Sports equipment: SiC can be used in high-performance sports equipment, such as tennis racquets and snowboards, due to its stiffness and lightweight.
