Before selection, clearly define the usage environment, load-bearing function, and service life reliability requirements:

• Usage Environment: Distinguish between indoor/outdoor, dry/wet or corrosive environments, and temperature zones. Select salt spray corrosion-resistant copper alloy for coastal areas and heat-resistant copper material for high-temperature environments.
• Load-bearing and Functional Requirements: Clarify load type and requirements for wear resistance and electrical conductivity. Choose high-strength, wear-resistant brass for transmission gears and high-conductivity copper for electronic terminals.
• Service Life and Reliability: Select cost-effective brass for ordinary daily necessities and high-quality, stable copper material for industrial/engineering hardware. Conduct material testing when required.

Different copper materials and grades vary significantly in characteristics and processing adaptability, requiring matching with processes such as stamping and casting.

• Pure Copper (Red Copper): Grades T1-T3 offer excellent electrical/thermal conductivity and good plasticity but lower strength and higher cost. Suitable for electronic terminals and thin-walled stamping parts.
• Brass: The primary choice for hardware processing. Ordinary brass (H62, H65) suits general parts; special brass (lead, tin, aluminum brass) optimizes specific properties for turning, marine environments, and other scenarios.
• Bronze: Provides high strength, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance but has poorer processability and higher cost. Suitable for high-end, high-strength, wear-resistant hardware.

• Stamping/Stretching: Select pure copper T2 and brass H62/H65/H68 with good plasticity
• Casting: Choose cast brass/bronze with good fluidity and control impurity content for compactness
• Turning/Milling: Select lead brass Hpb59-1/Hpb62-3 with good machinability for improved accuracy and surface finish
• Welding: Choose pure copper T2 and brass H62/H65, avoiding lead brass to ensure welding strength

Copper material price order: Bronze > Pure Copper > Special Brass > Ordinary Brass. Select materials based on requirements to balance cost and quality:

• General low-load parts: H62 brass offers the best cost-performance ratio
• Wear-resistant machined parts: Hpb59-1 lead brass balances performance and cost
• High-conductivity plastic parts: Pure copper T2 or brass H65; oxygen-free copper for high-end needs
• High-end corrosion-resistant heavy-load parts: Tin brass, aluminum bronze ensure reliability and service life

• Check Material Certificate: Verify supplier's quality assurance certificate for grade, composition, and mechanical properties
• Inspect Appearance Quality: Ensure no oxidation, cracks, pores, or other defects; smooth surfaces indicate stability
• Sampling Inspection: Conduct component and mechanical property tests on bulk/important part samples
• Confirm Supplier Qualifications: Choose reputable manufacturers for consistent quality

• Mechanical properties are reference values in soft state. After cold processing, strength increases and plasticity decreases
• Slight variations may occur in same grade materials from different manufacturers. Purchase based on supplier quality assurance certificates

• Grade writing must comply with GB/T 5231-2022 standard to avoid confusion
