The Yaskawa CIMR-VU4A0023FAA is a V1000 compact current-vector variable frequency drive developed for 380-480 VAC three-phase industrial motor systems. It provides a Normal Duty rating of 15 HP at 23 A and a Heavy Duty rating of 10 HP at 18 A. The two operating ratings allow the drive to serve either moderate-overload variable-torque equipment or more demanding constant-torque machinery.
Normal Duty operation is generally suited to centrifugal pumps, fans and similar loads with limited short-term overload demand. Heavy Duty operation provides 150% overload capacity for 60 seconds and is more appropriate for conveyors, mixers, processing equipment and machinery with higher starting torque. The final selection must be based on motor nameplate current, starting torque, acceleration time, operating cycle and ambient conditions rather than horsepower alone.

The CIMR-VU4A0023FAA can operate appropriately rated three-phase induction motors and compatible permanent-magnet motors. Open Loop Current Vector control is suitable for applications requiring improved starting torque and speed regulation without conventional encoder feedback. V/f control is appropriate for straightforward variable-speed operation, while PM Open Loop Vector mode requires accurate motor electrical data and application-specific commissioning.
Typical applications include pumps, fans, conveyors, mixers, packaging lines, material-handling systems and process machinery. For high-inertia equipment or applications requiring frequent rapid deceleration, calculate the regenerative energy and braking duty. The built-in braking transistor requires an external resistor with the correct resistance, power rating and duty cycle.
When replacing an installed CIMR-VU4A0023FAA, confirm the complete model and suffix from the nameplate. Record the existing parameters, motor data, terminal functions, communication address, acceleration settings and braking configuration before removing the drive. Inspect the motor cable, motor insulation, grounding and mechanical load if the original unit experienced overcurrent, ground fault or overload events.
