The Yaskawa CIMR-VU4A0018FAA is a V1000 compact current-vector variable frequency drive designed for 380-480 VAC three-phase power systems. The CIMR-VU4A0018FAA can operate compatible induction motors using V/f or Open Loop Current Vector control. PM Open Loop Vector control is also available, but permanent-magnet motor commissioning requires accurate motor data and appropriate parameter settings. The drive should not be connected to an unknown PM motor without confirming its voltage, current, pole count and back-EMF characteristics.
Normal Duty is generally suitable for centrifugal pumps, fans and moderate-overload systems. Heavy Duty should be evaluated for loaded conveyors, mixers and machinery with frequent torque changes. For continuous low-speed operation, confirm that the motor has sufficient cooling. For frequent stopping, calculate the braking resistor duty and regenerative energy.
Verify the complete nameplate model before replacing this drive. Record the existing parameters, terminal assignments, control mode, motor data, communication address and fault history. Confirm whether the application uses an external braking resistor, safety circuit, analog current reference or optional communication hardware.
If the previous drive failed, inspect the motor winding, output cable, grounding and mechanical load before energizing the replacement. A shorted motor cable, seized mechanism or insulation fault can damage a replacement drive immediately. Verify cabinet ventilation and clear accumulated dust from the cooling path.
For migration to GA500, select the replacement from output current and operating duty rather than the 10 HP designation alone. Parameter conversion can assist commissioning, but all safety-related functions, I/O logic, network communication and rating-dependent parameters must be reviewed and tested.
Related V1000 models include CIMR-VU4A0011FAA, CIMR-VU4A0023FAA and CIMR-VU4A0031FAA. CIMR-VU4A0011FAA is suitable for lower current requirements, while CIMR-VU4A0023FAA provides additional continuous and overload capacity.
