Manual starters are simple, user-operated devices that control motor operation through a button or rotary knob. These starters feature mechanical linkages that open or close contacts to start or stop the motor.
Note: Manual starters do not break control circuits during power loss, which may cause automatic motor restart when power returns. This requires consideration for safety-critical appliions.
When activated (via button or key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid, which transfers power from the battery to the starter motor. The motor engages the flywheel through a gear system (starter drive/Bendix), cranking the engine to initiate combustion.
Once the engine is running, the starter motor automatically disengages from the flywheel as the engine no longer requires electrical assistance.
