Layer 1 is a 0.05–0.15 mm viscoelastic polymer coating (tan δ >0.3 at 1 kHz, silicone-free) applied directly to the winding — it absorbs mechanical vibration energy through molecular relaxation, converting kinetic energy to heat without adding mass or stiffness. Layer 2 is a 0.02–0.05 mm constrained-layer top coat of metallic-loaded epoxy that creates a stiff outer shell — when the inner viscoelastic layer deforms, the constrained outer layer forces shear deformation in the viscoelastic layer, maximizing energy dissipation per cycle. The combined dual-action system achieves over 20 dB microphonic noise reduction from 1–10 kHz, with winding displacement maintained below 0.1 µm under 5 g vibration from 20 Hz to 2 kHz. The mechanical Q at resonance is below 5 — no ringing, and settling time is under 10 µs after an impulse.
Spacecraft and high-vacuum scientific instruments cannot tolerate organic outgassing — condensed volatiles on optical surfaces, thermal control coatings, or detector arrays degrade performance and can cause mission failure. The HACC-CUSTOM-AD is produced under a certified low-outgassing process: all materials are screened per ASTM E595, achieving total mass loss (TML) below 1.0% and collected volatile condensable material (CVCM) below 0.1%. No silicone, no phthalates, and no halogens are used in any material — including the anti-microphonic damping layers, the dot-fixing epoxy, and the wire plating. Every device undergoes a vacuum bake-out at 125°C for 24 hours prior to shipment, with post-bake TML verified below 0.5%. Material traceability is maintained per recognized space industry standards for each production lot. The device is qualified for 10⁻⁹ Torr vacuum with no volatile condensables after 72 hours of vacuum exposure.
The Au/Pd/Ni/Cu plating stack — identical to the NM variant — provides corrosion resistance and bondability without introducing volatile metal surfaces. Wire bond pull strength above 4.0 g is maintained post-vacuum bake, and no Pd-Au intermetallic growth occurs after the 125°C/24h bake-out procedure.
