1. Product Overview
Nomay Glow-in-the-Dark Anti-Slip Tape combines photoluminescent visibility with a slip-resistant surface for stairs, steps, landings and walkways.
Common purchasing names include photoluminescent anti-slip tape, glow-in-the-dark stair tape, luminous grip tape and non-slip egress tape.
The luminous layer absorbs suitable light and releases stored energy as an afterglow when illumination is reduced. The textured surface provides traction under the conditions established for the selected grade.
This product is designed for walking-surface identification and grip, rather than high-temperature process masking.
2. Product Construction
Carrier: PET polyester film for the construction presented on this page.
Functional layers: Photoluminescent material and a textured or abrasive walking surface.
Adhesive: Selected acrylic or rubber-based pressure-sensitive adhesive.
Release liner: Removable liner protecting the adhesive before installation.
Formats: Rolls, stair strips, arrows, footprints and custom die-cut markers.
Confirm the exact surface material, grit, layer arrangement and adhesive for the selected model. Abrasive particles and luminous material may be arranged differently across versions.
Non-abrasive textured versions may be requested as separately specified constructions. They must not inherit the abrasive version's thickness or slip-test results.
3. Specifications and Custom Formats
Finished thickness includes the permanent functional layers, carrier and adhesive, excluding the removable release liner. For textured products, confirm how thickness is measured over the surface profile.
Specify required width, roll length or die-cut dimensions. The available combination depends on the surface construction, luminous pattern, adhesive and converting method.
Yellow-green afterglow, warning borders and custom directional patterns may be requested. Daylight appearance and emitted glow color are separate specifications.
Confirm whether the luminous area covers the complete tape width or only a stripe. Printed borders and non-luminous regions affect the visible guidance pattern.
4. Key Features and Buyer Benefits
Afterglow Identification
The luminous layer helps identify marked edges and directions after suitable light exposure.
Textured Grip
The selected surface provides traction for the intended footwear and walking conditions.
Combined Marking and Traction
One product can provide visible identification and grip in suitable stair and walkway applications.
Peel-and-Stick Installation
Pressure-sensitive adhesive allows installation on compatible, correctly prepared surfaces without a paint-drying stage.
Custom Shapes
Stair strips, arrows, footprints and markers support repeated layouts and directional identification.
Application-Specific Options
Different grip textures, luminous patterns and environmental grades can be evaluated according to the project.
5. Charging and Afterglow Performance
Photoluminescent tape needs suitable light exposure before it can provide an afterglow. It does not generate unlimited light in an unlit space.
Charging depends on the light source, spectrum, illuminance at the tape and exposure duration. The actual installed lighting must be sufficient for the selected grade.
Afterglow brightness decreases with time. Specify luminance in mcd/m² at agreed intervals, such as 10 and 60 minutes, together with charging and measurement conditions.
A claimed glow duration requires an agreed endpoint brightness. Duration alone does not establish how clearly a route will remain visible.
Assess the finished tape, including its grip surface and printed pattern, rather than the luminous pigment alone.
6. Slip Resistance and Surface Selection
Specify the test method, dry or wet condition, test footwear or slider, and required result. A grit size alone does not establish a slip-resistance rating.
Abrasive surfaces may suit footwear traffic but can be unsuitable for direct skin contact. Barefoot, washdown and hygiene-sensitive areas require a separately selected surface.
Oil, dust, worn grit and cleaning residues can reduce traction. Wet-use suitability requires both appropriate grip and an adhesive construction compatible with the environment.
Do not describe every version as waterproof, suitable for barefoot use or suitable for heavy vehicle traffic.
7. Application Industries and Scenarios
Stairs and Landings
Mark selected walking surfaces and stair-edge areas using a placement layout suitable for the actual staircase.
Factories and Warehouses
Identify pedestrian steps, maintenance access areas and walkways affected by reduced lighting.
Commercial and Public Facilities
Provide supplementary visibility and traction in suitable corridors, steps and access areas.
Facility Maintenance
Use replacement strips and custom markers to maintain a consistent marking system.
Exit-Route Identification
Selected constructions may form part of a project-specified guidance system. Product performance and installation must satisfy the applicable project requirements.
Marine, rail and other regulated installations require separately confirmed material and system qualifications.
8. Installation Procedure
Confirm the substrate is sound, clean and dry. Remove oil, dust, loose paint and cleaning residues.
Check compatibility with the floor coating and allow new coatings to cure fully. Porous or uneven surfaces may require an approved preparation method or a different installation solution.
Lay out the markers so the luminous areas receive adequate charging light and remain visible during use.
Apply without bridging cracks or unsupported gaps. Use firm, uniform pressure, especially at edges and corners.
Follow the selected adhesive's application-temperature and bonding-time instructions before opening the area to traffic or cleaning.
Inspect for lifting, poor contact and obstructions after installation.
9. Indoor, Outdoor and Wet-Area Use
Select the complete construction against moisture, sunlight, temperature cycling, cleaning and traffic.
Outdoor, freezer and wet-area versions require separate confirmation. A different adhesive alone may not resolve deterioration of the luminous or grip layers.
Application temperature and service temperature are different requirements. Confirm both for the selected model.
Do not apply PET silicone masking-tape temperature ratings to this multilayer safety product.
10. Maintenance and Safety-System Integration
Keep the luminous and grip surfaces clean using a compatible cleaning method. Avoid coatings or treatments that obscure the glow or smooth the texture.
Inspect edges, adhesion, surface wear and afterglow performance periodically. Replace damaged, lifting or excessively worn sections.
Check that changes to lighting, furniture or equipment have not reduced charging or hidden the markers.
Use the tape as supplementary guidance and traction. Do not treat a product listing as approval to remove required emergency lighting or exit signs.
Where a project requires photoluminescent, slip, flame or smoke testing, confirm the exact construction and supporting documentation before supply.
11. Comparison and Selection Guide
Photoluminescent and Reflective Tape
Photoluminescent material emits stored light after charging. Reflective material returns incident light and requires an external light source for that effect.
Glow-in-the-Dark and Ordinary Anti-Slip Tape
Choose the combined product when both afterglow identification and traction are required.
Abrasive and Non-Abrasive Surfaces
Select using footwear, cleaning, skin contact and tested slip performance.
Full-Width Glow and Luminous Stripes
Select according to the required visible marking area and grip layout.
Rolls and Die-Cut Markers
Rolls suit continuous strips. Pre-cut shapes support repeated positioning and directional layouts.
