1. Product Overview

Nomay Blue PET High Temperature Tape combines blue polyester film with single-sided silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive for powder coating, process protection and selected composite-curing operations.

Common purchasing names include blue polyester masking tape, blue powder coating tape and blue PET silicone tape.

Blue provides visible process identification against suitable surfaces. Translucent versions can assist positioning where visibility through the tape is useful. Shade and transparency must be matched to the application.

2. Product Construction

Backing: Heat-resistant PET polyester film.
Adhesive: Silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive.
Adhesive side: Single-sided.
Color options: Light blue, deep blue or translucent blue, subject to model confirmation.
Formats: Self-wound rolls, liner-backed rolls, strips and custom die-cut masks.

Blue refers to the tape backing, not necessarily the release liner. Confirm liner material, color and release behavior separately when a liner-backed construction is required.

Film thickness, adhesive coating and any additional treatment must be identified in the selected construction.

3. Available Specifications

For the confirmed colored PET film and silicone adhesive family:

Thickness range: 0.012–0.1 mm; thicker constructions available on request.
Width range: 0.1–1250 mm.
Roll and master-roll length range: 33–3000 m.
Peel adhesion range: 5–1500 g, with test conditions to be confirmed.
Temperature resistance range: 180–220°C, matched to the construction and process.
Color: Blue.

Confirm whether the quoted thickness refers to PET backing or finished adhesive tape. Finished tape thickness includes backing and adhesive, excluding any removable release liner.

The supplied peel-adhesion range uses g notation. Confirm the force-unit convention, specimen width, substrate, peel angle, test speed and dwell time before comparison.

Not every thickness, width, length and adhesion combination is available in one construction. Additional coatings or reinforced structures require separate specification review.

4. Key Features and Buyer Benefits

Visible Positioning
Blue supports identification of temporary masks and process materials against suitable backgrounds.

Translucent Options
Selected translucent constructions allow underlying edges or reference marks to remain visible during placement.

Conformable Masking
Thin PET constructions can follow suitable curves and shaped components. Select thickness and adhesive coating according to geometry and surface condition.

Defined Coating Edges
The film backing supports controlled masking boundaries when correctly applied.

Heat-Resistant Process Protection
The PET and silicone adhesive combination supports compatible powder-coating and thermal-processing cycles.

Controlled Removal
Selected grades support one-piece removal after validated exposure, helping reduce cleanup and missed masking pieces.

Precision Converting
Liner-backed masks, strips and drawing-based shapes support repeated placement and production consistency.

5. Powder Coating and Metal Finishing

Protect designated contact faces, assembly interfaces and no-coating areas during suitable powder application and oven curing.

Confirm the component surface temperature, dwell time, coating chemistry and removal timing. Inspect edge lift, shrinkage, coating seepage and residue after the complete cycle.

Flat die-cut masks can cover suitable hole openings. Deep bores and internal threads may require dedicated masking plugs.

Chemical-treatment applications require separate evaluation of the actual bath, concentration, temperature and exposure sequence. General solvent resistance does not establish compatibility with every finishing process.

6. Composite-Curing Applications

Selected constructions may temporarily hold compatible release materials or auxiliary films during composite lay-up and curing.

Confirm the resin system, tool surface, contact location, temperature, pressure or vacuum conditions and exposure duration. Assess adhesive transfer, outgassing, film movement and removal after the full cycle.

Silicone transfer can affect subsequent bonding or painting. Where the process restricts silicone, the adhesive chemistry must be reviewed before use.

This product is not specified as vacuum-bag sealing tape, structural bonding tape or a universal release film. A standard PET masking construction does not automatically provide a vacuum-tight seal or compatibility with direct resin contact.

Autoclave and other extended-cycle requirements need a specifically matched construction and process validation.

7. Electronics and Other Process Uses

Electronic-Component Protection
Selected grades may mask or protect compatible surfaces during approved heating or coating operations. Confirm residue, electrical and contamination requirements.

Label Protection
Translucent blue versions may be evaluated where the tint permits label reading. Verify print compatibility and barcode scanning after processing.

Renewable-Energy Components
Use suitable masks on photovoltaic frames, battery enclosures and related metal components during compatible coating operations.

Temporary Film Fixation
Selected adhesive grades may hold compatible auxiliary materials during processing. Evaluate holding under the actual load and temperature.

Do not assume suitability for a 260°C solder bath or permanent coil insulation from the PET backing alone.

8. Temperature and Exposure Conditions

The available temperature-resistance range is 180–220°C.

Confirm actual part temperature, exposure time, heating cycles and removal conditions for the selected grade. Include ramps, holds and repeated cycles in the process review.

This range does not establish continuous service at 220°C, 220°C for 7 hours or 200°C for 24 hours.

Extended heat cycles may be submitted for dedicated evaluation. Published durations for another manufacturer's tape must not be assigned to the Nomay model.

Color alone does not establish a higher temperature rating than another PET color.

9. Application Procedure

Identify the substrate, complete process and surfaces that must remain free from adhesive transfer.

Clean and dry the application surface using a compatible method.

Apply without excessive stretching. Press edges uniformly and avoid wrinkles, gaps and unsupported spans.

For composite work, verify compatibility with the auxiliary material and its release treatment before the production trial.

Run samples through the complete cycle. Check edge lifting, shrinkage, movement, film integrity and residue.

Remove at the validated temperature, angle and speed. Confirm that all temporary material has been removed where required.

10. Adhesion, Visibility and Special Requirements

Peel adhesion depends on formulation, coating, substrate, pressure, dwell time and process exposure. It does not by itself establish holding under load or vacuum-process performance.

Removal must be evaluated after the actual heat and chemical cycle. Clean removal at room temperature is not sufficient evidence for post-process behavior.

Machine-vision detection requires validation of blue shade, transmission, gloss, lighting, camera settings and background contrast.

Low-static, controlled-translucency, special-liner and low-outgassing versions may be requested, subject to specification and model confirmation. Their performance is not included automatically in standard blue PET tape.

11. Comparison, Handling and Storage

Blue and Other Colored PET Tapes
Choose color for positioning and inspection. Compare the confirmed construction rather than assuming performance from color.

Thin and Thick Constructions
Thinner versions may improve conformity and reduce masking-edge height. Thicker versions may improve handling, but solid PET does not provide foam-like cushioning.

Rolls and Liner-Backed Parts
Rolls suit variable-length masking. Liner-backed shapes support precision conversion and repeatable placement.

PET and Polyimide
Select the backing according to the complete thermal and electrical requirement. Higher-temperature processes may require a separately qualified polyimide construction.

Store in original packaging in a clean, dry environment. Follow the confirmed storage conditions and shelf life, and protect exposed adhesive and cut edges.
