1. Product Overview
Nomay Yellow PET High Temperature Tape combines yellow polyester film with single-sided silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive for thermal-process masking and visible identification.
Common purchasing names include yellow polyester masking tape, yellow powder coating tape and heat-resistant process marking tape.
It is selected for busbar contact-area protection, powder coating, baking and temporary inspection-point marking. Yellow provides useful contrast against suitable dark components and fixtures, helping operators locate masks and check removal.
2. Product Construction
Backing: Yellow heat-resistant PET polyester film.
Adhesive: Silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive.
Adhesive side: Single-sided.
Color options: Bright yellow, translucent yellow or golden yellow, subject to model confirmation.
Formats: Self-wound rolls, liner-backed rolls, strips, discs, arrows and custom die-cut masks.
Confirm the film, adhesive coating and optional liner for the selected construction. Color alone does not establish temperature resistance, electrical performance or a particular surface-treatment structure.
3. Available Specifications
For the confirmed colored PET film and silicone adhesive family:
Thickness range: 0.012–0.1 mm; thicker constructions available on request.
Width range: 0.1–1250 mm.
Roll and master-roll length range: 33–3000 m.
Peel adhesion range: 5–1500 g, with test conditions to be confirmed.
Temperature resistance range: 180–220°C, matched to the selected construction and process.
Color: Yellow.
Confirm whether the quoted thickness refers to PET backing or finished adhesive tape. Finished thickness includes backing and adhesive, excluding any removable release liner.
The supplied peel-adhesion range uses g notation. Confirm the force-unit convention, specimen width, substrate, peel angle, test speed and dwell time before comparison.
The ranges describe product-family options. Not every thickness, width, length and adhesion combination is available in one construction.
4. Key Features and Buyer Benefits
Visible Process Identification
Yellow helps distinguish selected inspection points, protected surfaces and temporary process markers against suitable backgrounds.
Contact-Area Masking
Rolls and die-cut masks protect designated metal interfaces from unwanted coating during compatible processes.
Defined Coating Boundaries
The PET backing supports controlled masking edges when correctly positioned and pressed onto a suitable surface.
Heat-Resistant Protection
The silicone adhesive and PET construction support selected powder-coating and baking operations within the confirmed exposure profile.
Placement and Removal Checks
Visible masks can help operators find missing, displaced or unremoved pieces during defined inspection steps.
Custom Converting
Discs, strips, arrows and drawing-based shapes support repeated locations and production-specific masking layouts.
5. Busbar and Grounding-Surface Protection
Use the tape to mask designated busbar contact faces or grounding interfaces that must remain free of coating.
Remove the mask before making the electrical connection. Check exposed surfaces for residue, coating intrusion and damage, then verify the finished connection requirements.
This product is a process mask, not a conductive connection tape or a specified permanent busbar insulation system.
Keep any electrical contact required for electrostatic powder application or electrochemical treatment exposed according to the process design. Do not cover a rack contact that is needed to carry process current.
6. Temperature and Baking Conditions
The available temperature-resistance range is 180–220°C.
Confirm actual component temperature, exposure time, heating cycles and removal conditions for the selected grade. Include preheating, curing and repeated baking in the evaluation.
The range does not establish continuous service at 220°C, 200°C for 24 hours or a universal 30-minute exposure rating.
Extended-bake requirements may be submitted for dedicated construction evaluation. Temperature limits and exposure durations must match the supplied model rather than another manufacturer's tape.
7. Application Industries and Scenarios
Busbar and Electrical-Connection Components
Protect selected contact areas during compatible coating and baking operations.
Battery Enclosures and Inverter Housings
Mask grounding faces, assembly interfaces and other areas that must remain uncoated.
Automotive and Industrial Coating
Provide localized masking and visible identification on suitable components and fixtures.
Electroplating
Selected constructions may be evaluated for masking non-treatment areas. Provide bath chemistry, concentration, temperature, immersion time and the complete preparation and rinsing sequence.
Electronics Manufacturing
Use temporary markers or masks during processes within the confirmed tape capability. State any electrical, residue or silicone-transfer requirement before selection.
Fixture and Inspection-Point Marking
Use yellow strips or shapes according to the facility's process-identification system. The tape is not a temperature indicator and does not independently verify that a process has been completed.
8. Color, Visibility and Label Protection
Choose the yellow shade against the actual surface and lighting. Visibility can change after powder deposition, contamination or heating.
Machine-vision use requires validation of camera, illumination, gloss, viewing angle and recognition thresholds. Yellow color alone does not guarantee detection.
Translucent yellow versions may be evaluated for protecting printed labels when the tint and transmission are acceptable. Check print compatibility, adhesion, readability and barcode scanning after the actual heat cycle.
Where clear visibility or accurate color reproduction is required, select a suitable transparent label-protection construction.
9. Application Procedure
Identify areas to protect and process contacts that must remain exposed.
Clean and dry the substrate using a compatible method. Remove dust, oil, polishing compounds and release agents.
Apply without excessive stretching. Press edges uniformly and avoid wrinkles, gaps or unsupported spans.
Run samples through the complete production sequence. Inspect edge lifting, shrinkage, coating seepage, color visibility and adhesive transfer.
Remove temporary masks at the validated temperature, angle and speed. Check that all pieces are removed and the exposed surfaces meet assembly requirements.
10. Adhesion, Removal and Special Requirements
Peel adhesion depends on the adhesive, substrate, application pressure, dwell time and process exposure. Select sufficient holding without creating unacceptable removal damage.
Evaluate residue and film breakage after the actual thermal and chemical cycle. Removal before heating does not establish post-process performance.
Chemical compatibility must be evaluated with the actual process fluids. General solvent resistance does not establish resistance to every plating bath.
Low-static, special-liner and controlled-translucency versions may be requested, subject to specification and model confirmation.
Electrical insulation, flame retardancy and outdoor weathering require separate assessment when relevant. Yellow color does not establish these properties.
11. Comparison, Handling and Storage
Yellow and Other Colored PET Tapes
Choose color for contrast and process identification. Matching PET and silicone constructions may share specifications, but color alone does not establish performance.
Yellow PET Masking Tape and Floor Marking Tape
Use this product for compatible thermal-process masking. Floor applications require a construction selected for wear, traffic and floor adhesion.
PET and Polyimide Tape
Select using the actual temperature profile and material requirements. Yellow or golden appearance does not identify the backing.
Rolls and Die-Cut Masks
Rolls suit variable-length masking. Liner-backed parts support repeated geometry and controlled placement.
Store unused material in its original packaging in a clean, dry environment. Follow the confirmed storage conditions and shelf life, and protect exposed adhesive from contamination.
