The Three Phase Decanter Centrifuge for Tank Bottom Sludge Oil Recovery is designed to continuously separate recovered oil, water, and concentrated solids from sludge removed from crude-oil, fuel-oil, and refinery storage tanks.
Tank bottom sludge may contain recoverable hydrocarbons, water, sand, rust, scale, wax, asphaltenes, and other settled impurities. After suitable heating and conditioning, the three-phase decanter recovers the oil phase, reduces sludge volume, and prepares the separated water and solids for further treatment.
Wax, asphaltenes, and heavy hydrocarbons can make the sludge difficult to pump and separate.
Heating and controlled dilution may be used to improve fluidity before centrifugation.
Surfactants, fine solids, and aged hydrocarbons may form stable emulsions.
Demulsifier dosing, mixing, and retention time may be required to improve oil and water separation.
Sand, rust, scale, and catalyst fines can wear the feed zone, scroll, cone, and solids outlets.
Carbide tiles, ceramic liners, and replaceable discharge inserts can be installed in high-wear areas.
Oil, water, and solids content may vary between tanks and even during one tank-cleaning operation.
Adjustable bowl speed, differential speed, pond depth, and phase interfaces help maintain stable separation.

Screened and heated tank sludge enters the rotating bowl through a controlled feed pipe.
Agitation maintains a uniform feed, while heating and optional demulsifier dosing improve phase separation.
High centrifugal force moves sand, rust, scale, and other dense solids toward the bowl wall.
The solids form a concentrated layer inside the bowl.
