Type 321 is titanium stabilized to improve resistance to sensitization-related intergranular corrosion.

321 angle is considered for welded equipment exposed to temperatures where unstabilized grades may experience sensitization. It does not replace 321H where high-temperature creep strength and code requirements specifically require the H grade.
Applications include heat exchangers, thermal-processing frames, exhaust equipment, welded supports and chemical equipment.
Welding consumables and procedures must be selected according to design temperature and applicable code. Heat tint and contamination should be removed where corrosion performance is important.
Orders should clearly distinguish Type 321 from 321H and specify whether the finished angle or parent plate must meet a particular product standard.
