A 4-Axis Robot Stamping Line is a specialized automation solution designed for high-speed, "top-down" part transfer between press stages. Unlike 6-axis robots which offer full spherical motion, 4-axis robots (often referred to as SCARA or Linear Transfer Robots) are engineered for maximum speed and stability in a fixed horizontal plane.

Q1: Why choose a 4-axis robot over a 6-axis robot for a stamping line?
Cost and Speed. A 4-axis robot has fewer moving parts and a simpler control algorithm, allowing it to move significantly faster in a straight line. If your parts do not need to be flipped or rotated at extreme angles between presses, the 4-axis system provides a 20-30% higher SPM and a lower initial capital investment.
Q2: How does the 4-axis robot handle "Die Clearance" issues?
We utilize Z-Axis Vertical Stroke optimization. The robot is programmed to "lift and shift." Because the arm is mechanically rigid in the vertical plane, it can dive into the die area, retract, and clear the safety gate much faster than a 6-axis robot, which has to coordinate multiple joints to achieve the same vertical lift.
Q3: Can a 4-axis robot handle offset or asymmetrical parts?
Yes, through the R-axis (Rotation). While the robot cannot "tilt" the part, it can rotate it 360° to match the orientation of the next die. For asymmetrical automotive parts, we design custom End-of-Arm Tooling (EOAT) with offset vacuum cups to ensure the center of gravity is always aligned with the robot's primary arm.
