The Elastic Acrylic Sports Surface is a water‑based, cushioned coating system designed to provide superior shock absorption and player comfort without sacrificing ball bounce consistency. It consists of an acrylic‑bonded rubber particle underlayer (the “elastic layer") followed by one or more acrylic mid coats, color top coats, a textured finish, and an optional clear coat.

The elastic layer contains fine rubber granules (recycled SBR or virgin EPDM) mixed with a water‑based acrylic binder. This layer is applied over asphalt or concrete, creating a resilient, shock‑absorbing surface that reduces fatigue and injury risk. Total system thickness can be built up to 8 mm (typically 1‑6 mm elastic layer + 0.5‑2 mm color/texture coats). The surface remains fully porous and breathable.

• Ideal for: tennis courts, basketball courts, multi‑sport courts, school gymnasiums, rehabilitation and senior sports areas, and any project requiring a soft, joint‑friendly playing surface with high impact protection.
• Elastic acrylic vs. hard acrylic: Elastic acrylic includes a rubber particle underlayer (up to 6 mm thick) that absorbs impact, reducing stress on knees and ankles. Hard acrylic has no cushioning.

All data can be supported by third‑party test reports (SGS, TÜV, etc.) according to ITF, ASTM, and EN standards.

Key feature: The rubber‑acrylic elastic layer absorbs impact. Thicker systems (up to 8 mm total) provide superior joint protection and are ideal for senior players, rehabilitation centers, or high‑use public courts.

For total thickness >5 mm or high‑sun regions, we strongly recommend virgin EPDM to prevent rubber degradation.

Q4: How long does it take to install an 8 mm system?
→ Approximately 10‑14 days due to multiple rubber layers requiring drying between coats. Each rubber layer needs 4‑6 hours drying.

Q5: Which rubber type is best for thick systems (6‑8 mm total)?
→ Virgin EPDM. Recycled SBR may become brittle over time, especially in thick sections. For long‑life thick cushioning, use EPDM.

Q6: Does the rubber layer affect ball bounce?
→ No. Extensive ITF testing confirms that properly applied elastic acrylic (with rubber layer thickness ≤6 mm) maintains consistent ball bounce (Category 1‑3). The cushioning absorbs impact without significantly changing ball rebound height or speed.

Q7: Is the system permeable?
→ Yes. Both the rubber layer and acrylic coats are porous, allowing water to drain through. No standing water.

Q8: Can I reduce the thickness for lower cost?
→ Minimum functional elastic layer is 1 mm (one coat). However, 2‑3 mm is recommended for meaningful joint protection. We can advise based on your budget and player needs.

Q9: How to maintain?
→ Same as hard acrylic: sweep, occasional wash, recoat color layer every 5‑8 years. The elastic layer does not require replacement if properly protected.
