A solid brass three foot censer with a raised dragon relief around the body and a vented lid. About 13cm tall, it takes both incense sticks and cones and reads as a serious altar piece rather than a table accessory.
This censer follows the classic three foot form used on altars for centuries, with a rounded body raised on three short legs and a pierced lid that lets smoke out in slow ribbons. A dragon is cast in relief around the bowl, with the detail picked out by hand polishing so it stands proud of the background. Cast in solid brass and weighing close to seven hundred grams, it stays steady when placed on a cloth covered altar table. Both incense sticks and cones can be used, with the ash falling into the bowl below.
Casting is followed by hand chasing to sharpen the dragon relief, then two stage polishing for a warm bronze tone. Lids are matched to their bowls before packing so the fit is clean, and each set is foam packed.
