Product Overview

The Yaskawa CIMR-VU4A0005FAA is a V1000 compact current-vector variable frequency drive designed for 380-480 VAC three-phase industrial power systems. It provides a Normal Duty rating of 3 HP at 5.4 A and a Heavy Duty rating of 3 HP at 4.8 A. Although both duty selections carry the same nominal horsepower designation, the available continuous output current and overload profile are different. The final duty selection should therefore be based on the motor nameplate current, acceleration demand, load inertia and operating cycle rather than horsepower alone.

This model is suitable for compact machinery requiring stable speed regulation, controlled acceleration and deceleration, motor protection and repeatable low-speed operation. Typical applications include conveyors, packaging machines, small mixers, feeders, pumps, fans and general material-handling equipment. Its compact IP20/NEMA 1 construction is intended for installation in an appropriate indoor electrical cabinet or protected industrial area.

Compatible System and Applications

The CIMR-VU4A0005FAA can control compatible three-phase induction motors and appropriately configured permanent-magnet motors. It is commonly used where a PLC, relay circuit, local keypad, analog reference or serial network provides the run and speed commands. Motor current, base frequency, rated speed, pole count and control method must be entered according to the actual motor data. PM motor operation requires additional motor-specific parameter confirmation and should not be treated as a direct induction-motor setup.

Maintenance and Replacement Notes

For replacement work, verify the complete code CIMR-VU4A0005FAA rather than only V1000 or VU4A0005. Confirm the input voltage class, phase, ND or HD selection, motor full-load current, terminal assignments, braking resistor, communication settings and machine parameter set. Back up the existing parameters before removing a working drive whenever possible. Inspect the motor cable and insulation before energizing the replacement, because an output short circuit or ground fault can damage the new unit.
